I'm a recent Florida transplant to the great state of Texas. I live with my 4 kids, 1 dog & husband in a beautiful suburb of Houston. I am a stay at home mom with lots to do AND say but never enough hours in a day to get them all done. I love to read, write & decorate but find that I have waaaay too many helpers to do many projects! :) There's never a dull moment in my house since 3 of my kids are under 4! Come join me and our journey through this crazy thing we call life!

A brief introduction into my crazy life…

Hello! I am so excited to join the team of Today’s Mama, Houston! I have been blogging privately for a few years and I’m branching out! Here’s a brief introduction into my crazy life….

We have 4 kids, yes 4! And yes, I know I “have my hands full”! (If I had a nickel for everytime I heard that, we’d be stinkin’ RICH!) Seriously!!!  Life with 4 kids (three of which are 4 and under) is ALWAYS crazy hectic and there’s never a dull moment.  We recently uprooted our family and moved from Florida to Texas (what an adventure!) We left behind all my family, but we’re lucky enough to have my inlaws & sister in law here. In fact, my inlaws built the house right.next.door. It’s actually been quite a blessing, believe it or not! They help us so much and I don’t know how we could have gotten along without them!

As I know many of you probably do, I struggle daily with various “kid issues”, one of which is the behavior and temper tantrums.  Somewhere along the way I stumbled upon some research that showed a possible connection between food dyes/flavors & behavioral issues and thought, I guess it wouldn’t hurt to try and eliminate as much of that as possible just to see.  So, after a bit of research of my own, we are embarking on a journey to rid our family of all things “brightly colored”. TRANSLATION? We are experimenting with the Feingold Diet to see if removing food dyes and other various nasties will help curb some of the attitude behavior problems we are having. I’ll keep you updated and post along the way.

I’m a stay at home mom and have this never ending need to be “supermom”. The fact of the matter is, it’s a daily struggle to get everything done and my husband works long hours, so most days it’s just me, the kids & the dog.

I am also obsessed interested in anything to do with home decorating, including all those fabulous decorating blogs out there.  I do most projects by myself and the majority end nicely despite having 3 or 4 kids underfoot.

I’m also trying to learn how to cook  more edible, healthy, kid friendly fare. My 4 yr old has become my “helper” in the kitchen and I think it’s great that she wants to get involved and learn to cook. (Perhaps she should have picked another mom! LOL)  Just kidding, my cooking is ok….hey! the dog eats it so it can’t be that bad! Heck, I even make my own granola & chocolate syrup….I must be doing something right!

So come join me on my adventures in parenting…I’ve learned countless parenting “do’s AND don’ts” along the way and I’ll share them all with you in the hopes that you can learn something from them. I still learn lessons daily and I try to learn from them!

So……come along for the ride & I promise you’ll never be bored! 🙂

Thanks Heather for the compliment. However, the people truly blessed in this situation are us. It’s a gift to be able to live next door to all of you. You are a caring, loving mom, and your “rewards” will be countless. Hang in there!!!!

Thanks Carl! It’s a great opportunity and I figured since I had been writing my own personal blog for a few years now, why not venture out! Thanks for the support! 🙂

Nicely written. You have a full plate and you still find time to express yourself, Heather. You are Supermom.
